Artwork Guildlines and Helpful InformationVISUAL IMPACT
BIG, Bold, CLEAN and CONCISE are the keys to a successful outdoor advertising campaign. An appropriate sized outdoor ad is imperative to a successful advertising campaign. The most effective ads use less than 10 words… be brief and use the fewest words to convey your message. Typically, consumers have about 6 to 10 seconds of exposure to your ad. To be effective, use CLEAR, BOLD letters and numbers, which are important for readability. Color contrasting is also very important to make your ad stand out…. steer clear of pastels!
Before approving, look at your artwork from a 12′ – 15′ distance. Is your ad readable? Can you identify artwork and any images used? If the answer is yes, then you’re all set to experience the power of outdoor advertising!
1. Keep it simple – Less is more on a billboard.
A few well-chosen words are all it takes to get your business noticed – and remembered. 10 words or less is the goal.
2. Avoid ornate typefaces.
Elaborate or decorative type (font) can make your message difficult to read. Keep your text style simple yet bold and your audience will be engaged and informed.
3. Contrast is King.
Contrast is the most important aspect when choosing colors and images. The more contrast between the text, images and background the better. The strongest colors for optimal contrast is Black/Yellow and Black/White. Paring your company’s primary colors with any of these will heighten the impact of your ad.
